F&M Earns Split at Pennsylvania Cup

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's No. 15 men's squash team fell to No. 5 Penn. by a 9-0 score before rebounding with a 5-4 victory over No. 22 Dickinson during Saturday's Pennsylvania Cup in Philadelphia. 

F&M moved to 1-2 with the split while Penn. improved to 1-0 and Dickinson dropped to 1-2.

The inaugural event also featured Drexel in the four-team tournament made up of Pennsylvania squash programs. Penn. will face off against Drexel in tomorrow's Championship match.

By the Numbers (Penn) 

Three matches went past three games, including a pair that went the distance at No. 3 and No. 4. Silvio Soom battled back from a 2-1 deficit with an 11-4 win in the fourth game before succumbing by an 11-4 tally in the decisive fifth frame.

By the Numbers (Dickinson)

Saturday's nightcap with Dickinson featured several marathon matches. Six of the nine contests went past three games, including three that went to five frames. The Diplomats were dominant at the bottom of the ladder with wins in the No.'s 6-9 positions. Yannis Senkel (No. 3), Boden Polikoff (No. 6), and Frank Murray (No. 9) all swept their opponents as F&M remained unbeaten against Dickinson in the all-time series at 4-0.
