LANCASTER, Pa. – Strong performances from Anna Hess and Grace Pereles fell short for Franklin & Marshall on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 157-105 decision to Gettysburg on Senior Day as the Diplomats hosted the Bullets for Centennial Conference (CC) women's swimming. F&M fell to 3-7, 3-4 CC with the defeat.
Top Finishes
-Pereles tallied the first individual victory of the day for F&M, clocking a time of 2:17.09 to win the 200-yard butterfly.
-Hess was next to top the podium for F&M, winning the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.16.
-Hess went on to double her winnings in the 200-yard IM, touching the wall in 2:17.48 to take first place. Katherine Hirsch followed Hess in the event, finishing with a mark of 2:19.29 to earn third.
Other Notable Performances
-Pereles added a second-place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle, finishing in 11:03.21.
-Hess notched a silver finish of her own in the 100-yard backstroke, missing out on first place by just .06 of a second with her time of 1:01.53.
-Hirsch was again involved in the 200-yard freestyle, this time earning second-place honors with a time of 2:02.09. Caroline Fry followed just behind, taking third in 2:02.43.
-Michelle Wall turned in a strong performance in the 100-yard breaststroke, taking second after clocking a time of 1:11.33. Melissa Mullin was next to touch the wall, finishing in 1:11.35 to take third place, just .02 behind her teammate.
-Erin Fago continued her solid freshmen campaign in the 50-yard freestyle, earning second place with a time of 25.42.
-Colleen Lawlor also earned a second-place finish, touching the wall in 1:03.50 in the 100-yard butterfly.
