F&M Places Four at Bearcat Open

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - Four Franklin & Marshall wrestlers placed at Sunday's season-opening Bearcat Open tournament, hosting by Binghamton.

Brett Kulp placed second at 141 pounds after being victorious in his opening four matches of the day, which included a fall and a major decision. He finished his tournament with a 4-1 record. 

Anthony Mancini placed second at 184 pounds and wrapped up his tournament with a 3-1 record. He rolled to the finals with three-consecutive tech. fall victories and narrowly fell in the Championship match by a 6-4 score to Brown's Christian LaFragola.

Philip Robilotto secured fifth in the 197-pound bracket. He finished his day at 3-1, winning his first two matches.

In the 285-pound bracket, Antonio Pelusi garnered a third-place showing. He opened his day with two-consecutive wins, including a first-period pin in his first match. Pelusi eventually secured third thanks to a 5-2 decision over Lehigh's Victor Lecombe. 

125 Pounds 

Mike Simonetti won his opening match with a 7-5 decision over Spencer Reed of George Mason, before falling in his next two.

141 Pounds 

Paddy Quinlan rebounded from an opening-match defeat to secure two-straight wins in the wrestle backs - finishing at 2-2 on the day. 

149 Pounds

A pin in his opening match got Chase McCollum's F&M career off to a strong start before he fell in his next two. Chris Martorello earned a 3-1 decision win in the 149-pound consolation bracket, while Will Gil finished at 2-2 with his pair of wrestle back victories. Cole Aaron also claimed a consolation win with a 5-1 decision. 

157 Pounds 

Emmett LiCastri secured a 2-2 record thanks to an opening-period pin and a 12-3 major in the wrestle backs, while Noah Chan registered a 15-0 tech. fall in the bracket.

165 Pounds 

Jacob Conners finished at 2-2 with two decisions in the wrestle backs, while Crew Fullerton earned a first-period pin in the consolation round.

285 Pounds 

Steven Mercadante started off action with a pin at 2:47 against Harvard's Evan Callahan, before dropping his next two.
