MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Four Franklin & Marshall wrestlers placed in the top-six at Saturday's Shorty Hitchcock Open, hosted by Millersville. 

Cenzo Pelusi led the way with a second-place showing (285 pounds), while Wil Gil came in third (141 pounds). Emmett LiCastri (165 pounds) and Jose Diaz (125 pounds) followed by registering sixth place in their respective brackets.

A total of 15 Diplomats competed in the Open. Team scoring was not recorded. To view the final brackets, click here.

Pelusi went 4-1 overall on the day to reach the finals. He earned three decisions and an early second-period pin during his run. Pelusi fell just short of the title, suffering a hard-fought 4-1 decision loss to Penn State's Daniel Kerkvliet. 

Gil, who won the championship at last year's Open, got off to a commanding start. He rattled off a pair of pins to open competition, including a fall at just 18 seconds over Millersville's Eli Tuckey.

After winning four straight, Gil dropped a tough 14-7 decision to West Point's Dom Carrone in the first-place match.

Diaz won his opening contest with a narrow 7-5 decision before dropping down to the wrestle backs. He answered with two consecutive victories, including an 18-2 tech. fall win over Drexel's Dante Mininno. 

LiCastri claimed two straight majors to begin action on Saturday, taking down grapplers from George Mason and Rider by 13-5 and 16-3 tallies, respectively. After dropping down to consolations, he notched a 10-9 decision win over Buffalo's Noah Grover, but saw his day come to an end in the next match after being forced into a medical forfeit.

F&M hosts Harvard on Friday for the program's opening home dual of the season. Competition is set to begin at 8:00 p.m.
