Jeeva Advances to Molloy Cup Finals

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Sanjay Jeeva advanced into tomorrow's Molloy Cup – South finals match, while teammate Shams Abbas saw his tournament run draw to a close at day two of the College Squash Association (CSA) Individual Championships, hosted by Penn on Saturday. 

Jeeva takes on Penn.'s Yash Bhargava in tomorrow's Championship match at 11:20 a.m. A win by Jeeva would secure All-America Second Team status as he would become the first F&M squash player to earn the distinction since 2014.

Jeeva cruised out of the gate in his Semifinal matchup against Rochester's C. Corona Segundo with wins of 11-8 and 11-4 in the opening two frames. Segundo fought back with an 11-8 triumph in the third before Jeeva closed the door with an 11-7 victory for the 3-1 edge. 

Shams Abbas – Molloy Cup – North 

Abbas fell behind early with an 11-8 setback against Trinity's Andrew Lee in the first frame but came back to tie the competition at 1-1 with an 11-6 win in the second. However, Lee edged Abbas in the final two stanzas by scores of 11-9 and 11-8, respectively.
