LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team took down Ursinus, 140-120, and McDaniel, 209-45, but dropped its battle with nationally-ranked Swarthmore, 189-72, during its season-opening meet. Starting the year off with a Centennial Conference Quad Meet, the Diplomats hosted the kick off event inside the Kunkel Aquatic Center.
The Diplomats crowned one individual event winner as Helen Lahmann-Metcalfe was first to the touch pad in the 50-yard Freestyle event, clocking in at 25.09 seconds. The sophomore's victory came in her first meet representing the Diplomats during a full season of competition.
Sophie Moyer was the runner-up in the 200-yard Breaststroke, posting a time of 2:28.32. She also finished fourth in the 100-yard Breaststroke. Her times during both of those events already have the F&M first-year ranked among the top-10 swimmers in program history.
The quartet of Sophie Bergstrom, Moyer, Skye Howes, and Julie McFadden received the silver in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:50.14. Overall, the Diplomats finished the meet with eight finishers among the top three across the 14 events.
