CARLISLE, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's cross country team took part in the Little Three Meet on Friday evening which was hosted by Dickinson. The Red Devils won the event on their home course while Gettysburg and the Diplomats placed second and third, respectively.
Alex Miller paced the Diplomats on the 5K course with a time of 16:21 to place eighth overall in the field of 43 runners. Just like they did in the victory against regionally-ranked Elizabethtown, the Diplomats ran as a team with just 17 seconds separating their top five finishers. Alex Fillman (16:27) and Bennett Wasch (16:32) followed their teammate to the line as they secured the final two spots inside the top 10.
Franklin & Marshall was the first team to have each of its five scoring runners across the line as it was not long before Alfonso Knoll (16:36) and Mike Maglione (16:38) raced to the finish. Owen McCann (16:52), Ryan Braun (17:21), Connor Ashnault (17:25), Jake Naddelman (17:44), Dan Gaiewski (17:53), Tommy Towers (18:03), Jack Emrey (18:50), and Frankie Setlock (19:13) also contested the 5,000 meter course for F&M.
With two meets in just under a week's time, Franklin & Marshall will now have an extended training period as it moves into the 8,000 meter races which will begin for the team during the month of October. Up next for the Diplomats will be the prestigious Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Friday, October 1.
