LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team won 10 of the 11 contested races on Saturday as the Diplomats secured a convincing 143-57 victory over Bryn Mawr. F&M has now won five consecutive dual meets and sits at 7-3 overall on the year, including a 4-2 record against Centennial Conference competition.
Catherine Crampton and Georgia May led the charge, as the two Diplomats took first-place honors in two of their individual events. Crampton snagged the win in the 200 yard individual medley (2:15.14) and the 200 yard breastroke (2:35.07). May's day featured triumphs in the 200 yard freestyle (2:00.68) and 500 yard freestyle (5:19.81).
F&M also won gold in four other individual events. Sarah Gartner covered the 1,000 yard freestyle event in 11:14.42. Sophie Moyer won the 50 yard freestyle sprint event in 25.46 seconds. Helen Lahmann-Metcalfe was first to the touch pads in the 100 yard freestyle (56.81), while Julie McFadden placed first in the 200 yard backstroke (2:15.94).
The Diplomats swept both relays to start and finish to bookend the day on a strong note. The 200 yard medley relay finished the race in a time of 1:52.13, with McFadden, Moyer, Lahmann-Metcalfe, and Skye Howes combining for that event. The quartet of Kate Posner, Ruhbani Sidhu, Sophie Bergstrom, and Stephanie Dolan took care of business in the 200 yard freestyle relay, posting a time of 1:44.50 to cap the day with the final F&M victory.
Franklin & Marshall will wrap up its regular season with a dual meet against Washington College next Saturday, January 29 at 1 p.m. The Diplomats can officially lock up third place in the Centennial Conference standings during the regular season finale as the Centennial Conference Championships are just a few weeks away.
