Women's Swimming Sinks Washington College in Regular Season Finale

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team wrapped up its regular season by rolling past Washington College, 186-75. The Diplomats won both relays and 11 of the 12 individual events on Saturday and will head into the postseason having won their last six duals of the regular season. Overall, the team finished dual competition with an 8-3 (5-2 CC) record to place third in the Centennial Conference regular season standings.

The trio of Skye Howes, Rachel Baker, and Catherine Crampton all finished first in two individual events. Howes snagged the victory in the 100 yard butterfly (59.83) and 200 yard butterfly (2:14.97), Baker conquered in the 100 yard backstroke (1:02.62) and 200 yard backstroke (2:17.85), and Crampton won gold in the 500 yard freestyle (5:19.19) and 200 yard individual medley (2:17.63).

Five other Diplomats also hit the wall first during individual events. Georgia May won the long distance 1,000 yard freestyle event (10:57.01), Sophie Moyer handled business in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:09.61), Helen Lahmann-Metcalfe earned the top spot in the 50 yard freestyle (25.52), Julie McFadden placed first in the 100 yard freestyle (55.62), and Maya Blaisure was victorious in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:41.49).

Franklin & Marshall started and finished the day with victories in both of the relay events. The quartet of Baker, Moyer, Howes, and McFadden finished the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:51.96 to open the meet. The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Lahmann-Metcalfe, McFadden, Baker, and Moyer put an exclamation point on the meet with a time of 3:45.13.

Counting the relay events, Baker was a part of four Franklin & Marshall victories while Howes, McFadden, and Moyer played a role in three of F&M's 13 event victories on Saturday.

The Diplomats will now have their sights set on postseason competition as the 2022 Centennial Conference Championships begin on Thursday, February 17 and run through Sunday, February 20. Franklin & Marshall will serve as the host institution of this year's championship event.
