LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's squash team opened its 2022-23 season on Saturday by hosting the Penn Cup on the Mayser Center Squash Courts. Hosting the top teams from Pennsylvania, the No. 21 Diplomats started their season with an 8-1 win against Haverford, but fell 9-0 against third-ranked Drexel during the afternoon session.

The Diplomats did not drop a game to the Fords in the first through eighth positions on the later. The strongest individual effort came from Aryaa Ogale who limited her opponent to just four points in the morning match, including a blanking during the opening game. After winning at No. 2 against Haverford, Gurlin Kaur jumped out ahead of her opponent during the match against Drexel, winning a thrilling 12-10 opening game that went to extra points. Nevertheless, her opponent rallied back for the victory in F&M's best contested match against the Dragons.

With a 1-1 start to the season, the Diplomats will look to take third in the Penn Cup when they battle Dickinson tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. The Red Devils will enter that matchup ranked 26th in the preliminary College Squash Association National Rankings.
