Wrestling Takes Down Gettysburg on Senior Night, 36-6

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall wrestling team celebrated its Senior Night on Wednesday with a 36-6 triumph over Gettysburg inside the Mayser Center. The Diplomats won eight of the 10 bouts and registered bonus points during six of those victories to move to 5-4 on the season.

F&M started the dual very fast as Aidan O'Shea registered a tech fall in just 2:51, scoring 18 points in less than a period to get his team out to a 5-0 lead. Fellow first-year Bryce Kresho made even quicker work of his match, planting his opponent's shoulders on the mat just 1:34 into the first period for his third career fall. Anthony Micci made the most of his chance in the starting lineup, using first and third period takedowns gave him a 5-3 decision as the Diplomats were up 14-0 after just three bouts.

Gettysburg got its only two wins by decision at 165 lbs. and 125 lbs., but in between those results the Diplomats rolled off four more bonus point wins. Noah Fox (174 lbs.) and John Crawford (197 lbs.) both registered their 20th victories of the season. Fox recorded his fifth fall of the year in 4:23 while Crawford earned a 14-2 major. James Conway needed just 5:30 to run up a 20-5 technical fall over his opponent to record his 19th win of the season, while Cenzo Pelusi celebrated his Senior Day with a 14-4 major decision. That win improves Pelusi's record to 11-4 on the season.

Gio Diaz closed the evening on a winning note as he improved to a perfect 3-0 in dual meet action with a 6-2 decision behind four big near fall points that came in the second period. As a team, F&M racked up an 96-27 advantage in bout points as over half of the Bullets' points came on escapes. The Diplomats finished the match with a 24-5 advantage in takedowns.

Wrestling returns to EIWA action this weekend as the team makes a trip to New York. The Diplomats begin their busy Saturday with a 12 p.m. dual against LIU before making the quick trip over the Hofstra for a 4 p.m. scheduled start with the Pride.
