Women's Swimming Celebrates Senior Day with Victory Over WAC

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team celebrated its Senior Day with a 175-77 win against Washington College. The Diplomats closed the dual portion of their schedule with a 7-3 record while riding a five-meet winning streak. F&M capped its Centennial Conference season at 5-2 overall to finish third in the regular season standings.

Prior to the meet, the Diplomats honored the tremendous careers of Maya Blaisure, Amelia Bothwell, Sarah Gartner, Olivia Lockey, Jenna Lu, Julie McFadden, and Emi Patino-Kishigami. During the meet, Blaisure, Garter, Lockey, and Lu each captured event titles on their Senior Days, while McFadden swam the anchor leg of the final relay victory and took runner-up finishes in two other events.

Blaisure won the 100 Breastroke where the Diplomats claimed a 1-2-3 finish with Riley Reader, and Georgia May following her to the finish. Gartner claimed the 1,000 Freestyle (11:17.29) and Lu took the 200 Individual Medley (2:18.63).

In addition to her win in the 100 Butterfly (1:04.55), Lockey was a part of the 4x400 Freestyle team where she and senior classmate Julie McFadden swam the final two legs during that event win, joining Helen Lahmann-Metcalfe and Sophie Moyer with a winning time of 3:41.62. Lahmann-Metcalfe and Moyer were also part of the winning 4x200 Medley Relay (1:51.42), with Sophie Bergstrom and Catherine Crampton.

Moyer helped F&M win four event wins as she also took home top honors in the 50 Freestyle (25.05) and 200 Breaststroke (2:27.78). The Diplomats won 12 of the 14 contested events overals as other individual winners included Sophie Bergstrom (100 Backstroke; 1:01.25), Catherine Crampton (200 Butterfly; 2:16.50), Georgia May (500 Freestyle; 5:22.06), and Kathy Peitz-Diaz (2:15.35).

With the dual portion of the season wrapped up, the Diplomats are set to take part in next weekend's Swarthmore Invitational (Feb. 3-4) before turning their attention to the Centennial Conference Championships which run from February 16-20.
