LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's squash team wrapped up a busy weekend on its home courts with a hard-fought 6-3 loss against No. 17 Middlebury. The No. 18 Diplomats swept the top third of the ladder, but the visitors controlled the bottom portion of the lineup during the victory.
Gurlin Kaur capped an undefeated weekend with a five-game victory at No. 2. Kaur found herself facing 1-0 and 2-1 deficits, but was not to be denied as she claimed back-to-back games with 11-8 and 11-7 victories to improve her record to a team-best on the year. She has now won her last six matches dating back to the fall semester.
Audrey Berling (No. 1) and Aryaa Ogale (No. 3) both notched their second wins of the weekend with their respective victories. Berling had the Diplomats' lone sweep on Sunday as she dropped just six points after a back-and-forth 13-11 opening game. Ogale was also locked in a five-game battle. She went up 1-0 and closed her match with consecutive 11-7 wins during the final two games. The Diplomats took games in every match throughout the middle of the lineup before Middlebury secured those back-and-forth matches to lock up the team score.
Women's squash will be back in action inside the Mayser Center for three more matches next week as the Diplomats welcome Georgetown and St. Lawrence to Lancaster next Saturday, January 14 before wrapping up that weekend against William Smith next Sunday.
