Women's Squash 2023-24 Season Preview

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall's women's squash program begins its 2023-24 campaign on the road Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Dickinson.

The Diplomats are 12-7 all-time against Dickinson, with three wins coming against the Red Devils last season.

Preseason Rankings 
The College Squash Association (CSA) rankings have the Diplomats ranked 25th in the preseason rankings. The Diplomats finished the 2022-23 season with an overall record of 10-11. Rankings will be available throughout the season and can be found here. 

2023-24 Diplomats 
The Diplomats lost three key players to graduation last year in Audrey Berling, Sara Ghorashi, and Zoe Quayle. However, F&M returns an experienced lineup that saw a large amount of playing time last season.

The 2023-24 F&M roster is made up of four seniors, two juniors, three sophomores, and three first-year athletes.

Players to Watch

Aryaa Ogale led the Diplomats with 17 individual wins last season, qualifying herself for the Holleran Cup during the CSA Individual Championships. Ogale also earned second team All-Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference (MASC) recognition last year. Also qualifying for the Holleran Cup last year, Gurlin Kaur earned 16 individual wins that included a nine-match winning streak. Kaur also was named second team All-MASC for her efforts. Zarine Gidwaney earned 12 wins during the 2022-23 season, including big individual wins against No. 15 Williams and No. 18 Georgetown.

For the fifth year, F&M squash fans will be able to stream every Mayser Center Squash Court for every home match in high-definition.

The Road Ahead
After battling Dickinson on Friday, the Diplomats head to Philadelphia for the Penn Cup on Saturday and Sunday. F&M then begins a four-match homestand, taking on Virginia (Nov. 17), Bates (Nov. 18), Wesleyan (Dec. 2), and Denison (Dec. 3).

F&M begins 2024 on the road at Williams (Jan. 5), Amherst (Jan. 6), Middlebury (Jan. 7), MIT (Jan. 12), and Tufts (Jan. 13). The Diplomats then return to the Mayser Center to take on Connecticut College (Jan. 14) and Bowdoin (Jan. 20) before hitting the road for matches against Georgetown (Jan. 21), William Smith (Jan. 27), and Saint Lawrence (Jan. 28). F&M wraps up the regular season at home against Colby on February 3.

The MASC Championships run from February 9 to 11. The CSA Team National Championships will take place February 16 to 18, followed by the CSA Individual National Championships on March 8 to 10. All three championship events will be held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
