LANCASTER. Pa. - With 11 first place finishes in 12 events, the Franklin & Marshall Women's swimming team defeated McDaniel 161-53 in its final meet before winter recess.
Starting the day with the 50-yard breaststroke,
Alexa Girasole-Culhane notched the first individual win of her collegiate career with a time of 33.69.Â
Caitlin Barr then placed first in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 27.58.Â
In the 50-yard backstroke,
Sophie Bergstrom finished in first with a time of 28.20, making it one of two wins for the senior on the afternoon. Bergstrom was also the top finisher in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.67.Â
Helen Lahmann-Metcalfe won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.95, while also being apart of the winning team in the 200-yard freestyle relay. She joined
Matti Harvey,
Rachel Baker and
Sophie Moyer to win the relay with a time of 1:43.37.Â
Georgia May added a win in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:06.85 before
Ruhbani Sidhu finished in first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:26.78.Â
Kathy Peitz-Diaz set a personal best time of 2:06.82 in her first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle, beating her previous best time by nearly four seconds.Â
In the 100-yard breaststroke,
Katarina Dominguez placed first with a time of 1:15.91.
Closing out the individual races was Moyer, who registered a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.35.
The Diplomats will not race against until January 13, when they face Bloomsburg in a road dual meet.
