HARTFORD, Conn. – The No. 16 Franklin & Marshall men's squash team overpowered No. 13 Rochester, 5-4, in the semifinal round of the Hoehn Cup consolation bracket at the CSA Team Championships Saturday afternoon.
Marco DiFilippo (No. 3) and Flavio Hinostroza (No. 6) each earned 3-0 sweeps to win their tenth and eighth victories of the season, respectively. Evann Tan got a big 3-1 win in the No. 9 slot as he won the final two games to push past his opponent for his tenth victory of the winter season.
Teddy Eill (No. 5) and Sam Freed (No. 8) solidified the match win for the Diplomats as they each won five-game thrillers to push F&M past Rochester. Eill faced a 2-1 deficit before winning two-straight games to claim his eighth win of the season. Freed was tied 2-all with his opponent before winning the fifth game, 11-9, for his ninth win of the year.
No. 16 Franklin & Marshall wraps up the CSA Team Championships Sunday at 11:30 a.m. when it takes on No. 11 Chatham.
