LANCASTER, Pa. – The Division I Franklin & Marshall wrestling team is excited to welcome eight new Diplomats to the team for the 2023-24 season. The incoming class features three wrestlers who have captured state championships during their high school career as this group is equally as accomplished in the classroom as it is on the mat.
"This class brings in plenty of experience at the state and national level," commented W. Roy Phillips '34 Wrestling Coach Mike Rogers. "They all love the sport of wrestling and working hard. On top of that, they are all incredibly strong students with high academic goals. They are exactly the type of student-athletes that we are looking for at F&M."
This incoming class also features a strong local connection as three of the members of the class hail from the Keystone State in addition to wrestlers from Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, and Connecticut.
Notable accolades already among the group's accomplishments include Luke Bender being the first-ever Diplomats' recruit who won an NHSCA Senior National Championship, with Brandt Fajerman and Jack Parker also earning podium finishes at that national tournament. Dominic Wheatley also finished his prep career as a nationally-ranked recruit after placing third at PIAA states in a very tough weight class.
Rogers added that, "with those individuals already excelling at the national level, and joining several other talented recruits in this class, we can't wait to see what the future holds for them both on and off the mat."
