Women's Soccer Shutouts Elizabethtown, 3-0

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (2-0) picked up its second win of the season as it downed Elizabethtown (0-2), 3-0, in its non-conference matchup Tuesday evening at Tylus Field. The Diplomats played lock-down defense, only allowing four total shots in the contest. On the opposite side of the field, F&M's offense peppered the Blue Jays net with 20 total shots in the victory.

In the 39th minute, Kate Boujoukos drew a foul in the midfield to set up an offensive attack for the Diplomats. Julianna Sirico took the free kick and sent a high-arching pass into the offensive area where Zoe Warne headed the ball into the box. Boujoukos corralled the loose ball and buried it into the bottom-right corner of the cage to put F&M up, 1-0.

The Diplomats added insurance in the 56th minute as Bri Skidmore notched her first goal of the season on a corner kick sent in from Anna Ellwood. F&M's relentless offensive pressure forced nine corner kicks in the match.

Franklin & Marshall's offensive attack wasn't done yet as Lillian Williams controlled the ball deep in offensive territory during the 74th minute of play. Williams sent a crossing pass into the box that found Elizabeth Jones cutting to the front of the net. Jones tipped the pass past the Elizabethtown goalkeeper to score her first-career goal.

Jones and Skidmore each recorded four shots with two on goal during the contest.

First-year goalkeeper Lucille Fleming earned her second win in net – facing only two shots on goal and saving both.

Franklin & Marshall looks to continue its hot start to the season when it hosts Washington and Lee Saturday at noon. Saturday's game will include a Senior Day celebration, honoring the eight seniors on the roster.
