ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 18 Franklin & Marshall men's squash team fell on the road, 9-0, against No. 17 Rochester in Friday evening's contest. The Diplomats drop to 9-7 this season, while the Yellowjackets improve to 3-3.
With the loss, F&M ends a three-match winning streak that was started on January 14 in a 9-0 win at No. 30 Connecticut College.
Rochester kept the Diplomats on their heels throughout the match as the hosts swept the Diplomats in seven of the nine individual matches.
Sharan Punjabi (No. 2) evened the score at 1-1 with an 11-4 victory in the second game. However, his opponent claimed 11-5 and 11-9 wins in the third and fourth games to earn the match-victory.
Marco DiFilippo also earned a game-win in the No. 3 slot as he jumped ahead with an 11-8 victory. From that point, DiFilippo's Yellowjacket opponent won three-straight games to pull away with the victory.
No. 18 Franklin & Marshall looks to shake off the loss as it turns its attention to No. 20 Hobart. The Diplomats travel to face the Statesmen Saturday at noon.
