Eight Personal Bests Lead Men's Cross Country at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's cross country team finished seventh in a field a 20 teams at Gettysburg's Aubrey Shenk Invitational on Saturday morning. F&M had two top 50 finishes and eight of their 10 runners among the top 100 in the field of 226 individuals. Eight of F&M's 10 entrants completed the 8,000 meter race with a personal best time at that distance.

Tommy Tapino (26:43.3) and Owen McCann (26:51.5) both broke the 27-minute mark to finish among the top 50 runners. Tapino's 40th place finish came in a personal best time, with McCann just seconds behind his teammate. Zach Houff just missed a top 50 finish with his personal best time of 27:03.9 as he finished in 55th.

A tightly packed group made up the Diplomats' fourth through eighth finishers, with everybody in that group setting personal bests and breaking the 28-minute mark. Holden Brown (27:25.2) and Seamus Downey (27:34.1) were F&M's final two scoring runners with respective 71st and 77th place finishes. Aiden Cotter (27:36.8) and Cole Smith (27:47.3) both got into the top 90 with their PRs, while Addison Neuen cracked the top 100 with his PR of 27:52.4. George Williams finished in a time of 28:52.4 before Andrew Li's personal best time of 29:51.6 rounded out the Diplomats' 10 competitors.

The 2024 Aubrey Shenk Invitational served as the team's final preparations before the Centennial Conference Championships which will take place on Saturday, November 2. Dickinson is the host of this year's conference championship. The men's race is set for 12 p.m. start in Carlisle.
