Women's Soccer Downed by No. 18 Johns Hopkins in CC Championship

BALTIMORE, Md. – The No. 3 seed Franklin & Marshall women's soccer team (10-5-6, 6-1-3 CC) was defeated by No. 1 seed Johns Hopkins (15-2-3, 9-1 CC), 2-0, in the Centennial Conference (CC) Championship game Sunday afternoon at Homewood Field. The Blue Jays, ranked No. 18 in the national poll, scored twice in the first half and didn't look back to claim their third-consecutive CC title.

Franklin & Marshall generated just three shots in the first half with Zoe Warne recording the Diplomats' lone shot on net in the first half. F&M managed to earn two corner kicks in the first 45 minutes, but couldn't put a shot on net to capitalize on those set pieces.

The Diplomats raised the pressure in the second half with seven total shots, while limiting JHU to just two in the final 45 minutes. Immediately out of the intermission, Warne fired a shot at the bottom-right corner of the net that was saved by the Blue Jays' goalkeeper. In the 71st minute, Grace Craig sent an attempt towards the center of the net, but her shot was also saved by the JHU keeper. Hayden Wilson had F&M's final shot on net in the contest during the 90th minute, but she was also denied in her attempt to get F&M on the scoreboard.

Overall, Johns Hopkins outshot F&M, 14-10, in the contest. Warne led the Diplomats with three shots, while Boujoukos tallied two in the game. In net, Lucy Fleming made three saves with all three occurring in the first half.

Franklin & Marshall will turn its attention to the NCAA Selection Show, airing on Monday at 2:00 p.m. on NCAA.com.
