Men's Cross Country Finishes 18th at Mid-Atlantic Championships

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall men's cross country team wrapped up its 2024 season with an 18th place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships on Saturday afternoon. Three of the team's top four finishers posted personal bests at the 8,000 meter distance.

Two first-years led the Diplomats to the finish line as Tommy Tapino (26:40.1) and Sean Gorman (26:59.3) both posted career best times in their regional debuts. Tapino led the team with a 93rd place finish, while Gorman finished in the 105th place position. Senior Owen McCann just missed the best regional finish of his career as he placed 107th with a time of 27:02.1 as F&M's third finisher.

Holden Brown was the fourth Diplomat across the line in a time of 27:09.9 to take 114th in the field. Saturday's meet marked the first regional championship of the junior's career. Two more first-years – Zach Houff (27:12.0) and Seamus Downey (27:59.4) also made their debut at the regional championships, finishing 116th and 145th in the field. Sophomore Aiden Cotter raced at the regional meet for the second consecutive season where he placed 155th with a time of 28:33.5.

Today's meet was the final race of the cross country season for the Diplomats. The cross country team will now join the rest of its track & field teammates for the upcoming indoor season. Franklin & Marshall will host the Diplomat Open inside the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center on December 6 before the final exam period and winter break will see a break in the team's competition schedule.
