EVANSTON, Ill. – The Franklin & Marshall wrestling team wrapped up day two action at the Ken Kraft Midlands Championships on Tuesday. The Diplomats had two wrestlers battling for their spot on the podium coming into the day, but both fell just one match shy of the medal rounds.
After making a run to the quarterfinals on Monday, James Garcia dropped his round of 12 match to Pittsburgh's Matt Marlow by a 9-1 score. Garcia was seeking his second win versus a Pittsburgh wrestler after defeating a Panther during the opening round. Josh Hillard dropped a technical fall to Cal Poly's Anthony Berg. Both Hillard and Garcia finished their tournament at Northwestern with 2-2 records. Garcia earned his 10th victory of the season at Midlands, while Hillard is 8-4 heading into the New Year.
Wrestling returns to action with the entire team ready to compete at the Dave Lehman '68 F&M Open which is set for Friday, January 9 in the Alumni Sports & Fitness Center. The Lehman open annually draws some of the top Division I teams to Lancaster where wrestling is set to get underway at 9 a.m.
