LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 15 Franklin & Marshall men's squash team (7-5) was defeated by No. 5 Virginia (7-2), 8-1, on the first day of the Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference (MASC) Championships Friday evening. F&M earned a win in the No. 2 match, but the Cavaliers cruised the rest of the way with six of the eight wins coming in the form of a 3-0 sweep.
Sharan Punjabi earned the Diplomats' lone win with a 3-2 victory in the No. 2 slot. Tied at 2-2, Punjabi claimed an 11-7 win in the fifth game to pick up his eighth individual victory of the season.
Aditya Chandani (No. 5) and
Evann Tan (No. 9) fought hard in their respective matches with both players winning a game each. However, both Diplomats came up just short with 3-1 losses on the day.
No. 15 Franklin & Marshall now gets set to take on No. 20 Navy on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. at the Mayser Center Squash Courts.
