Women's Lacrosse Remains Unbeaten with 13-5 Triumph at Catholic

WASHINGTON, D.C. – It was another quick start for the third-ranked Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse team in its first road contest of the year as the Diplomats raced out to an 8-1 lead against Catholic before wrapping up the 13-5 final. The win puts the Diplomats at 4-0 to complement their three home victories to start the 2025 season.

A trio of hat tricks from Lydia Cassilly, Lane Lambeth, and Devyn Crone paced the attack, with Annie Marshall, Adde Hollander, Alexandra Proefrock, and Lauren Pittman also finding the back of the cage on Friday evening. Catholic held a 29-20 advantage in shots as both teams were even at 17 shots on goal. Nonetheless, 12 saves from Sara DiGiovanni were huge in the decisive victory.

The Diplomats had the only three goals of the opening quarter and were leading 8-1 with under two minutes to go in the half behind Crone scoring three of F&M's first seven goals. Cassilly also had two goals during that opening stretch, while her third goal of the evening stretched the lead to 10-2 with just under five minutes into the second half.

Franklin & Marshall's lead grew to as much as 13-4 following goals from Lambeth and Marshall during the third quarter before four fourth quarter saves from DiGiovanni played a huge role in neither team scoring during the final 15 minutes. The Diplomats were very efficient in the offensive end of the field as they scored on 13 of their 17 shots on goal.

As a team, F&M caused 15 of the Cardinals' 21 turnovers, led by five caused turnovers from Izzy Deubner who also collected a team-best five ground balls. Ellen Kelly and Megan Bizub finished with four and three caused turnovers, respectively.

Women's lacrosse will now take its 4-0 record to an annual highlight of the schedule as the team travels to the Sunshine State this coming week. While in Florida, the Diplomats will play Shenandoah on Wednesday, March 12.
