O'Shea, Scott Win Titles For Wrestling at Messiah Open

2/14/2026 6:23:00 PM

GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall wrestling team placed 13 of its 16 entrants at the Messiah Open on Saturday afternoon. Highlighting the action for the Diplomats was Aidan O'Shea (149 lbs.) and Jesse Scott (165 lbs.) taking home individual titles as F&M put five wrestlers in the finals. Overall, the Diplomats captured 51 wins among their entrants and won over 70 percent of the matches that they contested against outside competition.

O'Shea was dominant en route to the second Messiah Open title of his career. Just one of his five matches made it out of the first period as he recorded four technical falls and one pin. O'Shea outscored his opponents 64-0 on the day, including his only fall which came in 1:20 after the senior had the only points via the opening takedown before securing the fall. Three more 15-0 technical falls and a 16-0 tech fall highlighted his impressive performance.

Scott started out with a tech fall of his own during the round of 16. He then secured back-to-back 4-2 decisions, including a quarterfinal victory over Drexel's Ty Borkowski. After defeating his own teammate in the semifinals, Scott secured his second Division I win of the day and first individual collegiate title when he dispatched of VMI's JT Bowers during the championship match.

Also reaching the championship finals for the Diplomats were Jack Parker (125 lbs.), Ejiro Montoya (133 lbs.), and CJ Ferree (149 lbs.). A loss to O'Shea was the only thing that slowed down Ferree as the first-year secured five victories, including a sudden victory takedown against Stanford's Lain Yapoujian during the quarterfinal round. Parker racked up an 18-3 advantage in match points between two victories on his way to the finals before the rideout periods went in favor of his opponent from Maryland during the championship match. Montoya began his day with a technical fall and pin before hard-fought decisions in the quarterfinals and semifinals. The single point match went against him in the championship bout as he was defeated by a 5-4 score.

Brayden Hartranft (141 lbs.) and Michael Fuccilli (174 lbs.) both wrestled back for third after narrow defeats in the championship bracket. Hartranft went 5-1 on the day defeating Division I opponents from Drexel, Sacred Heart, and George Mason to cap his strong performance. Fuccilli recorded bonus points during each of his four wins, including two pins, a technical fall, and major decision. Tyler Fromm only lost to his teammate in the championship bracket before coming back for fourth as his day featured two technical falls and a major decision.

Charlie Colantonio (133 lbs.), Seth Weaver (165 lbs.), and Dylan Shelton (184 lbs.) wrestled all the way back to fifth place. Colantonio was 4-2 in the tournament with a technical fall and pin before counting a fifth win on the day via medical forfeit. Weaver was in the semifinals after a technical fall but closed his day strong with a 6-0 victory during his second match against the same opponent. Shelton also reached the semifinals and finished in fifth with a pair of technical falls against Messiah. Vincent Gioffree (133 lbs.) made it three place winners at his weight class by winning three straight matches after an opening round defeat. Deisley won four matches before reaching his match limit in the medal rounds to take eighth. Luke Bender and Brendan Sholders also had multiple wins in the 149 lb. bracket.

The Diplomats will return to dual meet action tomorrow when they make the short trip to Millersville for the annual Rupp Cup that will get started at 2 p.m.
