GEORGE MASON, Va. – The Franklin & Marshall wrestling team wrapped up the regular season with seven place winners at George Mason's Patriot Last Chance Open on Sunday. Jack Parker led the F&M place winners with a third place finish at 125 lbs. Charlie Colantonio (133 lbs.) and Michael Fuccilli both made it to the semifinals before taking fourth, while Nick Alvarez (fifth; 157 lbs.), Ejiro Montoya (sixth; 133 lbs.), Leo Varga (sixth; 197 lbs.), and Jake Allred (sixth; 197 lbs.) all advanced to the consolation finals.

Parker recorded two bonus point victories before capping his tournament with a 10-9 decision during the medal rounds. He finished his tournament with a 3-1 record and now has a winning record of 13-11 this season.

Joining Parker in the semifinals was Colantonio and Fuccilli. Colantonio started his day with an EIWA fall against Binghamton in just 3:32. Fuccilli's tournament began with an 8-0 major decision before he concluded the tournament in fourth place.

Alvarez ran off three bonus victories that featured two technical falls and a 13-1 major decision to place fifth. Montoya, Varga, and Allred all advanced to the consolation finals. Montoya made his appearance in the medal rounds after defeating Rider by a 7-2 score. Wrestling in different 197 lb. brackets, Varga defeated foes from George Mason and West Virginia in back-to-back matches after drawing the third-ranked wrestler in the entire country during his opening match. Allred was a 10-4 winner versus Cornell to earn his spot among the top six finishers.

Jesse Scott (165 lbs.), Seth Weaver (165 lbs.), and Dylan Shelton (184 lbs.) also recorded victories during the Diplomats' busy day.

With the final matches being wrestling on Sunday before NCAA qualifying allocations are announced this week, the postseason is less than two weeks away. The EIWA Championships held at American University will take place from Friday, March 6 through Saturday, March 7 where the team will compete for spots at the NCAA Division I National Championship. Those wrestlers not competing in the conference tournaments will have the opportunity to compete at the Zingo Nationals Tournament in New Jersey on Sunday, March 1.
