PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – For the third-consecutive year, the No. 23 Franklin & Marshall women's squash team (7-12) won its opening match of the Walker Cup at the College Squash Association (CSA) Divisional Team Championships. F&M overpowered No. 26 Dickinson, 5-4, Friday afternoon to advance in the tournament.
The Red Devils won four of the top five matches, but F&M took over from there.
Mia Todd came away with a big 3-0 sweep in the No. 3 match to claim her ninth individual win of the season.
Lavanya Seshasayee followed with a 3-0 victory of her own in the No. 6 match to improve to seven wins this year.
Elisabeth Stout continued the Diplomats' momentum with a sweep in the No. 7 slot for her seventh victory of the winter.
Destiny Ponce came away with a massive 3-2 victory in the No. 8 match. Tied 2-2, Ponce overpowered her opponent, 11-2, in the final game to earn her seventh win this season.
Nathalie Hernandez secured the victory for F&M as she won by default in the No. 9 match for her fifth victory of the year.
No. 23 Franklin & Marshall gets set to face No. 22 Hamilton in the semifinals of the Walker Cup Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
