Women's Lacrosse Topped by No. 4 Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – The Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse team dropped a 14-4 contest at No. 4 Salisbury on Friday afternoon. Playing its fourth top five team already this season, the Diplomats got a pair of goals from Devyn Crone and Blaine Cosby during the team's trip to Maryland which kicked off a busy weekend.

A huge first half run from the Sea Gulls would ultimately prove to be the difference as they scored the first four goals of the game and never looked back with a 12-1 lead at the half. Crone had the Diplomats' lone goal of the opening 30 minutes as the Sea Gulls made three saves during the first 15 minutes.

Franklin & Marshall played the third quarter to a 2-2 draw, with both Crone and Cosby scoring in the period. Cosby's goal during the third came when the Diplomats were serving a penalty. She later tallied with 1:34 remaining in regulation time for the only scoring for either team during the fourth quarter.

Salisbury finished with a 35-18 advantage in shots. The Diplomats made 14 saves in the nationally-ranked matchup. Sara DiGiovanni made 13 saves during her 30 minutes in goal. Rachel Jones played in the second half and was called on to make one save during that time. Julia Carbon had a team-high three draw controls, while Belle Dintino had a pair of draw controls and caused the only turnover of the contest for F&M in addition to scooping up a team-best five ground balls.

Women's lacrosse will finally get a chance to play its home opener tomorrow as the Diplomats begin Centennial Conference play against Swarthmore at 2 p.m. inside Shadek Stadium.
