No. 13 Women's Lacrosse Concludes Non-Conference Action vs. Trinity (Conn.)

LANCASTER, Pa. – The No. 13 Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse team wrapped up non-conference play on Saturday with its eighth nationally-ranked showdown of the season. Facing No. 21 Trinity (Conn.), the Diplomats and Bantams were locked in a 5-5 battle late in the second half before the visitors scored eight consecutive goals during a 17-7 final.

Alexandra Proefrock led the Diplomats' attack with a hat trick, but seven advantage goals for Trinity (Conn.) on seven cards issued to F&M proved too much to overcome. The visitors were additionally 5-for-5 on their free-position shots.

The Diplomats jumped out to the early lead as Blaine Cosby, Svia Russman-Araya, and Proefrock had the homestanding Diplomats up 3-1 after 15 minutes of action. Devyn Crone and Proefrock added advantage goals during the second quarter, but three of those same scoring situations helped the Bantams take a 6-5 lead into the locker room.

Trinity (Conn.) scored four advantage goals during its 8-0 run that spanned into the fourth quarter before Proefrock finished her hat trick with 11:35 to go in regulation time. Lauren Pittman would also get on the board midway through that final period before Trinity concluded its winning performance.

The visitors doubled up F&M in shots, 24-12, and held a 17-9 edge in shots on goal. F&M's defense caused 14 of Trinity's 21 turnovers, with Gretta Harnish leading the way with three CTs. Sophia Geibel, Belle Dintino, Sophie Harris, and Cosby all forced multiple takeaways. Geibel had a team-leading four ground balls, with Dintino and Pittman tying for the team lead with four draw controls.
