Women's Lacrosse Unphased by Green Terror in 22-4 Win

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse team put together its most convincing win of the season with a 22-4 victory versus McDaniel on Wednesday afternoon. The Diplomats led 12-0 before the Green Terror got on the board and were ahead by double digits for the final 43-plus minutes of game action.

Alexandra Proefrock, Rose Dunne, and Skylar Holmes all had had tricks in the Centennial Conference matchup. Proefrock's team-leading four goals (on four shots) additionally marked a career high for the sophomore, while Dunne and Holmes registered the first hat tricks of their careers. Shea Dekshenieks (two goals), Sumi Heffernan (two goals), Riley Ng-Knepper, Hope West, and Marla Lafferty all recorded the first goals of their collegiate careers throughout the win.

Franklin & Marshall started the game with a 13-0 advantage in shots during the first quarter and finished the contest with a 37-9 advantage in that category. Thirteen different players scored in total as Sophie Harris, Devyn Crone, Lauren Pittman, Myranda Beebe, and Gretta Harnish also found the back of the cage.

F&M won the draw control (22-5) and ground ball (17-8) battles while going 3-for-4 in free position attempts. Addy McIlvain's team-leading nine draw controls paced the team's efforts on the restart. Senior Mia Geignetter had a strong performance on defense as she scooped up a team-high four ground balls while also causing two turnovers. Eight different Diplomats caused a turnover during Wednesday's victory, while 14 players scooped up a ground ball.

Three different goalies saw time the cage for both teams. Reigning Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week Sara DiGiovanni registered the victory as she did not face a single shot during the opening period. Rachel Jones turned away one shot during the second quarter before Paytyn Crisp made one final stop during the second half of her collegiate debut.

Women's lacrosse will be back at home for Senior Day on Saturday versus Washington College in the final home game of the regular season. The Diplomats can officially clinch a spot in the Centennial Conference Tournament with a win over the Shorewomen who are currently receiving votes in the national poll. In addition to the Senior Day festivities prior to the 12 p.m. opening draw, Saturday is also the team's Pack the Dip Zone game.
