Former Franklin & Marshall wrestling standout Justin Herbert joined the Diplomats’ program as an assistant coach in 2016-17.
Herbert was one of the most accomplished wrestlers at F&M, capping off his career with the distinguished Garrigues Outstanding Senior Athlete Award in 2009. A three-year captain, he finished his senior season with a 23-13 record and become the Diplomats’ first NCAA Qualifier in 11 years.
Herbert concluded his career with a record of 82-39, good for sixth in program history. He also finished with a school record of 35 pins, a mark that had stood for 75 years and still stands today, as well as the season pins record at 17. Herbert excelled academically as well, being named a three-time National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-American.
Following his time at F&M, Herbert went on to earn a PhD from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2014. At neighboring Amherst College, he served as a three-year assistant on the wrestling staff where he helped coach a pair of NCWA All-Americans.
Herbert most-recently was an associate head coach at Without Limits Wrestling Club in Houston, Texas, where he coached youth through high school boys and girls.
