Steve Borja joined the Franklin & Marshall wrestling staff as an assistant coach in 2013-14 and will enter his 14th season with the Diplomats during the 2026-27 campaign. During his very first season with the Diplomats, Rick Durso '16 became the program's first All-American since 1981 with an eighth place finish at the NCAA Championships. Building on that success since, Borja has coached numerous NCAA qualifiers and EIWA place winners. His more recent prodigy was two-time NCAA qualifier James Conway who earned the No. 4 seed at the 2026 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. The Diplomats have also posted winning dual meet records during four of the past five seasons, including three straight winning seasons for the first time since the time since the 1991-92 season.

Borja was formerly a three-year assistant at Millersville University and a two-year assistant at Manheim Central High School. Prior to joining the Diplomats' staff, Borja brought more than five years of coaching experience.

At Manheim Central, Borja guided 10 regional qualifiers and one state qualifier. In 2012, he was named the LL Section 2 Assistant Coach of the Year.

During his time at Millersville, Borja coached six national qualifiers and two Academic All-Americans. In 2009, he was named the East Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

Borja graduated from Virginia Tech in 2008 with a degree in Human Nutrition, Food, and Exercise. While a member of the Hokies, he was a two-time first-team All-ACC wrestler, a national qualifier and was ranked as high as fourth in the country in 2007.
