Scheuing enters his 19th season as the Diplomats' assistant coach in 2024.

Scheuing has guided the Diplomat pitching staff during his tenure, where his student-athletes have been integral in F&M’s two Centennial Conference (CC) Tournament Championships in 2006 and 2013, two regular season championships, two NCAA playoff appearances, and 11 CC Playoff appearances. The Diplomats have boasted the league’s best conference ERA six times under Scheuing.

During both the 2019 and 2021 seasons, Scheuling has mentored the Mid-Atlantic and Centennial Conference Pitchers of the Year. Led by the one-two combo of Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Year, Jonathan Cole, and first-team All-CC, Jack Buckley, the Diplomats' pitching staff was dominant in 2019, recording a single-season record of 320 strikeouts and tallying the second-lowest team ERA (3.92). Cole went on to be named the D3baseball.com Mid-Atlantic Pitcher of the Year, ABCA/Rawlings Mid Atlantic First Team, and D3baseball.com All-America Second Team; only the second All-American in program history. The junior ace produced a 1.02 ERA; also good for second in the nation. Kyle Roche earned CC and Mid-Atlantic Pitcher of the Year honors in 2021 after winning all seven of his starts on posting a 1.00 ERA as he led all of Division III with a 0.60 WHIP. With Cole and Roche, Scheuing has played an integral role in developing two of the three All-Americans in F&M's baseball history. He also played a part in Dan Galef's first-year as a Diplomat, corralling the CC's ERA crown with a 2.30 ERA, allowing just three runs in his final dozen appearances (34 innings).

The 2013 CC Championship staff featured the resolute playoff performance by second-team All-CC pitcher Brendan DeMond (9-3, 2.79). DeMond took CC Tournament MVP honors after leading the first four-seed team to tournament victory and becoming the first player in CC history to record a pair of victories in the postseason tournament including a complete-game, four-hit shutout. Scheuing’s 2006 CC Championship staff was a memorable one, leading the Centennial in nine statistical categories including fewest hits, runs, and walks, and limited opponents to the lowest batting average at .240. F&M pitchers Matt Metsch (1.22) and Ted Serro (1.48) held the two lowest ERAs in the Conference in 2006, while both finishing in the top-10 in the nation.

Scheuing played five seasons of minor league baseball. The left-hander pitched for the Bangor (Maine) Lumberjacks of the Northeast League in 2003 and compiled a league-leading 11-5 record with a 3.99 ERA in the 2004 season. In 2005, the Lancaster native returned home and was 6-6 with 52 strikeouts in 26 starts for the Lancaster Barnstormers, who completed their inaugural campaign with a 64-76 overall record, including a 37-33 Atlantic League second half mark. Scheuing rounded out his playing career with the Pennsylvania Road Warriors and the Atlantic City Surf.

A four-year starter at Millersville University, he recorded a 17-10 career record with three saves as a Marauder. Scheuing graduated in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in economics and minor in history, while later earning a teaching certification in citizenship education. In 2014, he graduated with a master’s degree in liberal arts from Texas Christian University.

Before joining the Diplomats, he began his coaching career as an assistant at nearby Lampeter-Strasburg High School, helping the squad to a 2005 PIAA High School State AAA Championship. He acted as the interim head coach for Millersville University in the fall of 2005 before coming to the Diplomats staff.

Scheuing currently resides in Sinking Spring with his wife Marci, the current head field hockey coach at Kutztown University, and daughters Reagan and McKinley. He teaches Modern United States History and AP Research at nearby Penn Manor High School.
