Paul Wagner begins his 12th year as an assistant track and field coach at Franklin & Marshall College in 2025-26, working primarily with the Diplomat Throwers.

Under Coach Wagner's tutelage, his throwers have broken nearly every throwing record, won 13 conference championships, had an ECAC Champion, and four NCAA participants. Wagner's most recent throwing standouts have come in the javelin with record-breaking performances from Justin Kolpan and Mackenzie Ward '27. Kolpan earned his second All-America honors in the javelin with a seventh-place finish during the 2025 outdoor championships. Ward earned All-America honors in her first trip to the national championships. F&M throwers combined to win four events between the Centennial Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championships during the 2024-25 season.

Wagner has coached a pair of record-setting and champion shot putters in Logan Lewis '18 and Lindsey Powers '19.

Lewis set CC Indoor record (53-9.75) to finish ninth in the NCAA DIII Championships in 2016.  He also broke a 24-year-old Diplomat outdoor shot put record (52-7) as well as the record in the hammer (155-8). Lewis was an eight-time CC champion; three Indoor Shot Put, four Outdoor Shot Put, and an Outdoor Hammer.

Powers won the ECAC championship shot put in her last meet as a Diplomat, as well as setting a new school record (41-8.75). Powers medaled three times in the shot put taking second in 2018 and third in 2016 and 2019 at the CC Outdoor Championships.

Tanner Erisman '19 broke the school record in the javelin to finish second at the CC Championships in 2018.  The record previously stood for 11 years. Erisman medaled in all four CC Championships he competed in, second in '17, '18, '19, and third in '16.

Wagner also coached Livia Meneghin '15 who broke the outdoor shot put record with a throw of 41-4, and Maya Jackson '15 who broke the indoor shot put record with a throw of 42-4.25.

Wagner was a two-time NCAA Division II Hammer All-American, eight-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champion, and currently holds the PSAC All-Time record in the 35-pound weight at 20.21 meters. In 2014, his personal record in the hammer throw of 217 feet made the top-25 list in the United States. He was the first hammer throw to record a distance over 200 feet in PSAC history.

Wagner graduated from East Stroudsburg in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management. In 2014, he earned a Master of Science degree in the same field.
