LANCASTER, PA -- Center Amy Abernathy (Sr., Far Hills, NJ/American School - Paris) hit 12-of-15 from the floor for 24 points with nine rebounds as the Franklin & Marshall College women's basketball team downed Bryn Mawr College 82-40 in Centennial Conference action.
The Diplomats (3-4, 3-1 Centennial Conference) never trailed in the game as Franklin & Marshall built a 50-15 lead by intermission and outscored the Owls 32-25 down the stretch for the 42-point victory.
Lauren Dodrill (Jr., Timonium, MD/Roland Park) and Maura Lentz (Jr., Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) chipped in 14 and 13 points, respectively, while Christy Strunk (So., Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) dropped in nine points and Dana Johns (So., York, PA/Eastern York) added eight points.
For Bryn Mawr (1-7. 0-4 CC), Sarah Sniezek and Amy Johnson tallied 17 and 12 points, respectively, as the Owls hit 12-of-47 from the field and outrebounded the Diplomats 46-36, including a 16-11 advantage on the offensive glass.
The key to the game was turnovers as Bryn Mawr committed 32 miscues while the Diplomats converted into 44 points, while the Fords took advantage of 13 F&M turnovers for five points.
Franklin & Marshall College will return to the court on January 3 at home versus Bowdoin. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in the Mayser Center.
