LANCASTER, PA -- Kelly Cassels (So., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley), Jamie Pirko (So., Lancaster, PA/Manheim Township) and Amanda Zambrano (Jr., Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) each scored a goal to lead the Franklin & Marshall College women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over McDaniel College.
After a back and forth first half in which neither team was able to crack the scoring column, the Diplomats found the back of the net ten minutes into the second half as Cassels used a Jennifer Kahn (Fr., Rockville Centre, NY/Kellenberg Memorial) assist to give F&M a 1-0 lead at the 55 minute mark of the game.
Franklin & Marshall would turn the pressure up as Pirko blasted a shot from 30 yards out that found the upper left corner of the goal for a 2-0 lead. Zambrano finished the scoring as she converted on an assist from Anna Clough (So., Des Moines, IA/Roosevelt) for the 3-0 victory.
In net, Melissa Ruff (Sr., East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) recorded five saves for the Diplomats, while McDaniel's Michelle Mullen made seven saves.
Franklin & Marshall (4-5, 1-2 CC) will return to action on October 6th at home versus Dickinson College. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
