Box Score LANCASTER, PA - Franklin & Marshall College middle blocker Liz Earll (Sr., New Freedom, PA/Susquehannock) finished with six kills and four service aces as the Diplomats downed Bryn Mawr College 3-0 (30-12, 30-18, 30-18) to clinch a berth in the Centennial Conference volleyball playoffs.
F&M, which is guaranteed anyway from the #2-5 seed in the upcoming playoffs set for November 4-7 at #1 seed Gettysburg College, pulled away from Bryn Mawr ripping off a 6-2 streak to build a 13-7 lead to take game one 30-12.
The Diplomats continued their roll in the next two games using strong serving and hitting to win by identical 30-18 scores.
Overall, setter Lindsay Nye (Fr., Lincoln, PA/Avon Grove) tallied five assists, while middle hitter Susan Taylor (Fr., The Woodlands, TX/John Cooper) added seven kills and two service aces as the Diplomats improved to 17-6 on the year, 7-1 in Centennial Conference play.
In addition, outside hitter Rebecca Zeigler (Jr., Manchester, PA/Northeastern) tacked on 12 digs and four kills to compliment seven digs and three aces by outside hitter Jenna Walck (Fr., Perkasie, PA/Pennridge).
The victory marked the 14th straight for Franklin & Marshall College over Bryn Mawr as the Diplomats are now 14-1 all-time against the Owls since a loss in 1989.
Franklin & Marshall (17-6, 7-1 Centennial Conference) will continue the season at the Juniata Tournament on October 22-23 versus Rutgers-Newark, Juniata, Eastern and Carnegie Mellon.
