SWARTHMORE, PA - Brittany Croll (Jr., Frankford, DE/Indian River) and Stacy Swymelar (Jr., Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) scored unassisted goals as the #12 ranked Franklin & Marshall College field hockey team downed Swarthmore 2-1 in the regular season finale.
The Garnet took the lead at the 21:45 mark as Julie Morrison redirected a Summer Spicer pass to give the hosts a 1-0 lead through the first half.
Franklin & Marshall came out and put the game away in the second half as Croll drilled a score into the back of the cage 1:02 in to knot the score at 1-1. The Diplomats iced the win twenty-three minutes later as Swymelar drove home an unassisted goal for the 2-1 victory.
In the cage for the Diplomats, Michelle Altman (Jr., Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) recorded 12 saves, while Swarthmore's Karen Lorang stopped 11 of F&M's 24 shots on goal.
Franklin & Marshall (15-3, 8-2 CC), the #2 seed in the CC playoffs, will return to action on November 6 when they play #3 seed Dickinson College in the Centennial Conference semi-finals at #1 seed Ursinus College.
