LANCASTER, PA - Stacy Swymelar (Jr., Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) scored twice to lead # 7 Franklin & Marshall College to a 3-1 victory over 2003 Centennial Conference champion Johns Hopkins University in field hockey.
Hopkins jumped on the board first as Chrissie Terpeluk converted on a Leah Dudley assist to give the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead 15:16 into the game. Franklin & Marshall answered with three seconds left in the first half on the clock as Eileen Keever (Jr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) redirected a Brittany Croll (Jr., Frankford, DE/Indian River) pass to tie the score at 1-1 heading into halftime.
The second half was all Swymelar as she scored at 56:30 off an Allison Barthold (Fr., Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) assist for a 2-1 lead. With less then five minutes on the game clock, she struck again for an unassisted goal and the 3-1 victory.
In goal, Michelle Altman (Jr., Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) recorded four saves to earn the win.
Franklin & Marshall (10-2, 4-1 CC) will return to action on October 13 at McDaniel. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
