Johns & Dodrill Key Diplomats Past Haverford 86-58 in Centennial Conference Women's Basketball

LANCASTER, PA - Point guard Dana Johns (Jr., York, PA/Prince Frederick) finished with 25 points and center Lauren Dodrill (Sr., Timonium, MD/Roland Park) added 16 points and 22 points to lead the Franklin & Marshall College women's basketball team to an 86-58 win over Haverford College in Centennial Conference action at the Mayser Center.

The leading scorer in the Centennial Conference with a 19.0 ppg average, Johns connected on nine-of-17 field goal attempts, including four-of-five from beyond the three-point arc, and three-of-four at the free throw line to account for her game high 25 points, while adding seven defensive rebounds, three assists and three steals as the Diplomats improve to 1-3 on the year, 1-1 in Centennial Conference play.

Down low, Dodrill drained five-of-12 shots and six-of-eight at the charity stripe for 16 points, pulled down eight offensive and 14 defensive rebounds and blocked three shots.

Haverford fell behind early in the game and couldn't fight its way back into the game as F&M opened a 13-0 lead in the opening 4:02 of the game before the Fords' Bea Chang stroked a three-pointer 4:22 into the game for Haverford's first points.

Following a lay-up and foul shot by Dodrill to return the lead to 13 points at 16-3, Hayley O'Malley hit for a basket to pull Haverford to within nine points with 14:38 left in the half. However, the F&M defense stiffened and held the Fords' scoreless over the next 5:28 while running off a 12-0 run to take a 28-5 lead and coast to a 48-21 halftime lead.

F&M put the lead at 30 points 45 seconds into the second half as Maura Lentz (Sr., Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) dropped a three-pointer for three of her 12 points in the game to put the lead at 51-21 as the Fords were unable to cut the lead below 18 points the rest of the way.

Leading 64-46 with 8:02 left in the game, the Diplomats sealed the win as Johns drained a three-pointer and hit a foul shot following a push by Chang on the shot for a 68-46 lead to coast to the 28 point win.

Emily Weaver (So., Prince Frederick, MD/Calverton) chipped in 16 points and eight rebounds, while Laura Lind (Jr., Tacoma, WA/Annie Wright) added two points and eight rebounds in the win as the Diplomats improve to 13-1 all-time against Haverford, including a seven game win streak dating back to the 1998 season.

For Haverford (2-1, 0-1 Centennial Conference), Katie Crowley led the Fords with 20 points and seven rebounds, while Chang added 18 points and four boards and Claire Scribner chipped in 12 rebounds and eight points.
