WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Seven William Smith players scored goals as the #7 ranked Herons knocked off #15 Franklin & Marshall 10-8 in spring break women's lacrosse action in Florida.

Trailing 7-3 after the first half, the Diplomats rallied to pull within 10-8 to set up a last minute comeback attempt. However, a shot by Sloan Giampa (Fr., Cortlandt Manor, NY/Yorktown) deflected off the post and back into the field of play to stall the attempt as F&M hit the post five times against William Smith in the loss.

For the Diplomats, Allison O'Meara (Jr., Annapolis, MD/Severn School) and Kiki Foster (So., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) scored three goals apiece, while Kelly Cassels (Fr., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) and Brenna Dolphin (Fr., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy) scored twice as F&M falls to 0-2 against William Smith following a loss in 1994.

For the Herons, Brighde Dougherty scored three goals and Kate Bickford notched two goals, while Lindsay Teague, Gretchen Lasda, Alexandra Herter, Michelle Steigerwald and Maggie Benham each added a goal to lead William Smith's offense.

In net, F&M's Kamissa Mort (So., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) made seven saves on 22 shots. For William Smith, Rebecca Splain tallied 10 saves on 20 shots.

Franklin & Marshall (1-3, 0-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on March 19 versus St. Lawrence. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m.
