LANCASTER, PA -- Franklin & Marshall scored three goals in the first half and tacked on another insurance score in the second half as the #8 nationally ranked Diplomats upended Elizabethtown College 4-0 in non-conference field hockey to improve their record at an unblemished 5-0.
F&M jumped on the board with the eventual game winner at the 11:30 mark as Lindsey Mummert (So., New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) found the back of the cage for an unassisted goal. Later in the half, Stacy Swymelar (Jr., Phoenixville, PA/Phoenixville) converted on a scoring opportunity at 25:22 to put the Diplomats ahead 2-0 before Brittany Croll (Jr., Frankford, DE/Indian River) pushed across an unassisted goal 70 seconds later for a 3-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Eileen Keever (Jr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) used a Maggie Onasch (So., Bowling Green, OH/Maumee Valley) assist at 49:20 for her sixth goal of the season and a 4-0 victory.
Michelle Altman (Jr., Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) recorded six saves in 62:02 in goal, while Lindsay Klimik (Jr., Brick, NJ/Brick) closed out the shutout with 7:58 of shutout field hockey and one save.
Franklin & Marshall (5-0, 0-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on September 19 at #6 nationally ranked Montclair State University. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
