LANCASTER, PA - Guard Kim Rawson (Sr., Woodstock, NY/Plymouth) connected on five-of-eight from the field, including three-of-three from beyond the arc, for 13 points to lead four Diplomats in double figures as the Franklin & Marshall College women's basketball team defeated Bryn Mawr 84-48 in Centennial Conference action at the Mayser Center.
Leading 46-31 at halftime, F&M turned up the pressure in the second half reeling off a 10-3 run in the first 4:06 of play to take a 56-34 lead with 15:54 left on the clock. Bryn Mawr's Amy Johnson hit a lay-up to slice the margin to 20 points, but the Diplomats went on a 9-0 run to push the margin out to 65-36 with 11:21 to play to coast to the 36 point victory.
For the Diplomats, guard Maura Lentz (Sr., Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) and forward Emily Weaver (So., Prince Frederick, MD/Calverton) scored 10 points, guard Christy Strunk (Jr., Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) tacked on 12 points and center Lauren Dodrill (Sr., Timonium, MD/Roland Park) added eight points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals.
Deb Charamella led the Owls (2-16, 0-11 Centennial Conference) with a game high 16 points, while Johnson chipped in 11 points and JoAnn Gage registered nine points and a game high 11 rebounds.
The win marks the 13th for Franklin & Marshall as the Diplomats are now 13-0 all-time against the Owls and raises F&M to a within a half a game of Gettysburg for fifth place in the Centennial Conference.
Franklin & Marshall (7-9, 6-5 Centennial Conference) will return to action on January 27 at home versus Lincoln University. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
