Box Score 4 ALLENTOWN, PA - Setter Jackie Skibbie (Sr., Darby, PA/ Merion Mercy) recorded nine kills, 47 assists, 10 digs and three service aces as the Franklin & Marshall volleyball team corralled the Muhlenberg College Mules in four games (30-22, 30-22, 22-30, 30-23) in the Diplomats' final Centennial Conference regular season match.
In the first game of the night, the Diplomats (15-8, 8-2 Centennial Conference) took immediate control, as they forced a Muhlenberg side out, and Jenna Walck (So., Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) guided the team on an 8-0 service run to increase the team's lead to 9-0. The Mules pulled the game within six at 26-20, but F&M scored the next four points to finish off a 30-22 win to go up 1-0 in the match.
In the second game, F&M allowed the Mules to take an 8-7 lead before knotting the game at 11-11. Franklin & Marshall fell behind six more times, but Walck recorded a 5-0 service run to establish a 22-18 lead as the Diplomats won 30-22 to go up 2-0 in the match.
F&M took control of the third game but allowed the Mules to fight back to a 21-21 tie and eventually triumph 30-22 to narrow the Diplomats' lead to 2-1.
The final game was a back-and-fourth battle, as the lead was exchanged six times before middle hitter Susan Taylor (So., The Woodlands, TX/ John Cooper) led F&M on a 4-0 service run to take a 19-14 lead on the way to a 30-23 win and a 3-1 victory in the match.
Outside hitter Margot Phelan (Fr., Ellicott City, MD/ Centennial) led the team's offensive effort with 16 kills, two digs, two blocks and two block assists, while Taylor recorded 15 kills, one block and one block assist. Outside hitter Nicole Kushman (Jr., Chalfont, PA/ Central Bucks West) added 10 kills, four assists, 13 digs and a block assist.
In addition to her two service-runs, Walck recorded two kills, five service-aces and 13 digs. Alexis Dansky (Jr., Yardley, PA/George School) chipped in six kills, two blocks and one block assist, and libero Meghan Godorov (Sr., Orefield, PA/Parkland) led the team's defensive efforts with 24 digs and two assists.
Historically, the win increases the Diplomats' record versus Muhlenberg (11-16, 3-8 Centennial Conference) to 14-2.
Franklin & Marshall will complete its regular season schedule on October 28-29 at the St. Mary's College Tournament.
