UNION, NJ - In a game delayed over an hour late in the second half due to a lightning storm, Kean University's Allison Green scored a goal in each half to lead the #3 seed Cougars past #6 seed Franklin & Marshall College, 2-0 in the opening round of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament.

Kean (13-5) will now face #2 seed King's College on November 12 at Gettysburg College in the semifinals, while the Diplomats end the season with a mark of 12-7.

The Cougars jumped on the board when Green took a pass from Vicki Egerer and fired a shot that was slowed in front of the goal by the Diplomats' defense. Green collected the loose ball and put home the rebound with 12:20 left in the first half for the eventual game-winning score.

Green added her second goal of the game with 13:17 to play in the game as Cherie McNellis sent a shot to the back post where Green deflected the ball out of mid air and into the cage to ice the game.

In goal, Concetta Valerio stopped nine shots to earn the win for Kean, while Franklin & Marshall goalie Michelle Altman (Sr., Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) made nine saves in taking the loss.

The shutout for Valerio was the 23rd of her career as she set a new Kean school record.

Franklin & Marshall concludes the season with a 12-7 record as the team finished with a #19 national ranking, a berth in the Centennial Conference and ECAC playoffs and a 6-4 record in Centennial Conference play.
