BALTIMORE, MD - Franklin & Marshall center Lauren Dodrill (Sr., Timonium, MD/Roland Park) scored 14 points and pulled down 13 rebounds for her Centennial Conference leading 11th double-double of the season, but Johns Hopkins opened a 33-21 halftime lead and never looked back for a 60-42 victory over the Diplomats.
Dodrill's performance raises her career rebound total to 509 as she became the 12th Diplomat to record 500 career rebounds and moves to within 14 boards of surpassing Cathy Belser '90 (522) for 11th on the school record board.
She gave her team the lead 11 seconds into the game as she converted on the first of a pair of free throws off a foul by JHU's Ashley Felix at the 19:49 mark. Following a lay-up by Ashanna Randall to put the Blue Jays ahead at 19:29, Dodrill split the Jays defense for a bucket to place F&M ahead 3-2 at 19:05. However, Julie Miller converted a lay-up at 18:50 to ignite an 8-0 run for a 10-3 lead with 16:52 remaining in the first half.
The Diplomats stayed within striking distance as forward Emily Weaver (So., Prince Frederick, MD/Calverton) made a pair of free throws and Dodrill hit for a bucket to slice the JHU lead to 12-7. However, JHU rattled off an 11-0 run over the next four minutes to go ahead 23-7 with 8:55 remaining in the half as Franklin & Marshall failed to cut the lead to less than 12 points the rest of the way.
For Hopkins, Miller and Randall finished with a team high 10 points as ten players scored for the Blue Jays, including eight points by Andrea Dodrill. Overall, Hopkins shot 37.5% (24-of-64) from the field, 17.6% (three-of-17) from beyond the arc and 64.3% (nine-of-14) from the free-throw line to improve to 15-4 on the season, 10-2 in Centennial Conference play.
