WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Kate Bickford and Sarah Dillon scored three goals apiece as #7 William Smith College held off #16 Franklin & Marshall College 11-8 in non-conference spring break women's lacrosse action.

The Herons jumped on the board quickly as Jessica Tanner scored the first two goals of the contest as William Smith carried a 5-4 lead into halftime.

William Smith added to the lead in the second half tallying the first goal of the second stanza, but F&M responded with back-to-back goals to knot the game at 6-6 with 26:03 remaining on the clock.

However, the Herons seized control of the game as Jessica Scott scored a free position goal at 23:58 before Dillon added two scores five minute apart for a 9-6 lead by William Smith.

The teams traded goals over the final 15 minutes as Franklin & Marshall (1-2, 1-0 Centennial Conference) fell to 0-3 all-time against the Herons following losses in 1994 and 2004.

In goal, William Smith's Adele Hayward posted nine saves to record the win, while F&M's Kim Pleasants (So., Upper Darby, PA/Upper Darby) tallied nine saves.

For F&M, Kelly Cassels (So., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) recorded three goals, while Kiki Foster (Jr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver), Alexis O'Meara (Sr., Annapolis, MD/Severn), Brenna Dolphin (So., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy), Eileen Keever (Jr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro)and Sloan Giampa (So., Cortlandt Manor, NY/Yorktown) each notched one goal and Allison O'Meara (Sr., Annapolis, MD/Severn) had an assist.

The game was similar to the last meeting between the two programs as then #7 ranked William Smith held off an F&M comeback to outlast the then #15 ranked Diplomats 10-8 in West Palm Beach on March 17, 2004.

Franklin & Marshall (1-2, 1-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on March 17 versus Keene State University in West Palm Beach. Game time is set for noon.
