Box Score 4 KISSIMMEE, FL - Simpson College pitcher Marissa Campbell threw seven innings of three-hit softball with 12 strikeouts as the Storm outlasted Franklin & Marshall College 5-3 in spring break action.
Simpson (7-1) jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the game as the Storm posted pairs of runs in the first and second innings and a single run in the fourth inning.
Franklin & Marshall attempted a comeback in the top of the seventh inning as Allison Pavero (Jr., Malvern, PA/Notre Dame Academy), Kathleen Clinchy (Fr., Katonah, NY/Somers) and Jonelle Coletta (Jr., Point Pleasant Beach, NJ/Point Pleasant Beach) scored.
In the circle, Ali Tyler (Fr., Ridgewood, NJ/Ridegwood) went four innings allowing 11 hits and five runs, including three earned runs, with three walks and three strikeouts to take the loss, while Laura Kaesshaefer (Fr., Philadelphia, PA/William Penn Charter) went two innings allowing two hits.
Franklin & Marshall (2-6, 0-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on March 22 in Lancaster versus Lebanon Valley College in a doubleheader. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
