Box Score CARLISLE, PA - Sloan Giampa (So., Cortlandt Manor, NY/Yorktown) scored a goal and assisted on two others to lead the Franklin & Marshall College women's lacrosse team to a 12-5 victory at Dickinson College in Centennial Conference action.
The win marks the 28th straight for the Diplomats over the Red Devils since the series began in 1976 as Franklin & Marshall is now 28-0 against Dickinson.
The game also marked the first time that Franklin & Marshall alums faced off on opposite benches as head coaches as the Diplomats were led by Ann Phillips '80 and Dickinson was coached by Kasey Ryan '99 and assistant coach Lauren Paul '03.
Leading 4-2 at halftime, the Diplomats turned up the pressure in the opening minutes of the second half as Beverly Menghetti (So., Glen Mills, PA/Penncrest) scored 30 seconds into the half before Caroline Storrie (Jr., Phoenix, MD/Dulaney) ripped a shot into the goal at 28:20 for a 6-2 lead.
The Diplomats continued to pour it on as Kelly Cassels (So., Downingtown, PA/Great Valley) found the back of the cage with a shot at 23:37 before Dickinson's Tara Goss pulled the Devils back to within four at 7-3 with a goal at the 21:55 mark.
Franklin & Marshall responded with goals at 21:31 and 11:10 by Abby Kaplan (Fr., Bethesda, MD/Bullis) and Brenna Dolphin (So., Wilmington, DE/Archmere Academy), respectively, to push the margin out to 9-3 before Goss tallied her second goal of the game at 9:15 to cool down the Diplomats' offense and pull Dickinson back to within five goals.
However, Alexis O'Meara (Sr., Millersville, MD/Severn School) fired in a free position shot at 7:33, Kiki Foster (Jr., Denver, CO/Kent Denver) finished an assist from Giampa at 4:59 and Giampa tallied the final score of the game as the Diplomats cruised to the 12-5 win.
In goal, Kamissa Mort (Jr., Ashton, MD/Sandy Spring) recorded 10 saves with five goals allowed on 21 shots to earn the win, while Dickinson's Gabby Joffie made 15 saves and allowed 12 goals on 30 shots by the Diplomats in the loss.
Dickinson possessed the better of play in the opening minutes of the game as Katie Austin tallied a score at 22:32 for a quick 1-0 Red Devils' lead.
Franklin & Marshall responded at 18:24 as Eileen Keever (Jr., Prospect Park, PA/Interboro) scored before Alexis O'Meara and Allison O'Meara (Sr., Millersville, MD/Severn School) registered back-to-back goals at 9:22 and 8:58 for a 3-1 F&M lead.
The Red Devils sliced the margin to a goal as Austin scored at 5:25, but Foster rifled a shot into the twine with :28 left in the first half for a 4-2 lead at the break.
Franklin & Marshall (6-2, 5-0 Centennial Conference) will continue the season on April 14 at home versus Ursinus College. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m.
